Get Cocos Creator 3.2.1 by downloading the Cocos Dashboard
We have to thank many companies and news media that have supported us as we build the first-ever game engine to support HarmonyOS. We're happy to be bringing a new era operating system into the engine as Huawei continues to expand its products to new and exciting places.
As you may have been confused, after Cocos Creator 3.2 was released, we upgraded 3.1 with some added features. Adding the updates from 3.1 to 3.2 on such a tight schedule with the release of HarmonyOS 2 wasn't possible. So, many of these updates were first implemented in 3.1 to help developers improve the quality of their 3.1 games.
We're happy to announce that 3.2.1 releases with all the added updates from 3.1.2 implemented inside. We hope for those developers working on HarmonyOS games, this will help you tremendously in your development.
For the full details on the update, please check the developer's notes
Optimizations Galore!
We've worked to improve and optimize web and mini game gaming with 2D rendering optimization and optimizing startup speed.
We've also optimized a few backend items:
- PCF shadow bluff effect
- Bullet physics
- Runtime performance of animation components
Fixing Leaks, Improving Large Game Construction
We also fixed some memory leaks that were coming from a few components. These included leaks from the Mask and Mesh Renderer. So these are no longer an issue.
Some issues that were also taken care of were issues for bigger jobs included improving the automatic resource scanning so large projects can manually refresh the resource manager and turning of TypeScript strict mode at the beginning of a new project. (You still can turn it back on if you need.)
There's more in the developer's notes. So please review them in your leisure time.
Plans for Cocos Creator 3.3
Cocos Creator 3.3 should be coming out soon with a lot of great additions. We'll also be sharing a new video to demonstrate Cocos Creator's power that will come with its own demo that is editable! So hope you get ready for 3.3 and the future of our engine.
If you want to see the plans for 3.3, check out our public update roadmap. All items are subject to change but will give you a very good idea of what's happening.
