It's just been announced that TikTok now allows mini games on their app. This is big news for gamers looking to play a quick game or two while swiping their favorite TikToks and sharing their gaming skills. Luckily for you, if you are a game developer, Cocos Creator is already fully supportive of the TikTok mini game platform.
How are we ready?
Before this announcement, the owners of TikTok, Bytedance, had already added mini games to their apps in China. They are called "Byte Games" and were added to Douyin (Tiktok in China) and Toudao (a news app). This happened a few years ago, and Cocos Creator became the first game engine to support Byte Games as one of the biggest supporters of mini games on apps.
Moving back to today, with Byte Games now available worldwide, there isn't any need to change what you were doing if you were already building games with Cocos Creator. All it takes is a bit of tweaking, and you are ready to ship it and have millions playing your game.
The only thing we are waiting for is when TikTok will allow for more developers in the program. It's currently invite-only, so we'll have to wait a bit longer.
What are Cocos Creator games already on TikTok?
For China, there already are a lot of games that are becoming hits on the platform:
